Dallas, Texas – Round 6 of the 2013 Formula Drift Championship “Showdown” returned to the lone star state of Texas. Previously, Formula Drift had only curated drift demonstrations alongside another main attraction but 8 years later this time drifting was the main event. The tire screeching and smoke spewing event took place at the historic Texas Motor Speedway.
Entering the weekend, Daijiro Yoshihara held the 11th position in the points standing, and though chances for a championship have almost entirely slipped away, it is always the team and driver’s goal to continue to push and learn from each competitive round. Dai would qualify 6th on the new high speed, 100+ mph entry giving him a great spot to move on to the event’s top 32 competition.
Daijiro was running an almost flawless competition, winning his top 32 match-up and then his top 16 match-up setting up a tandem battle with, also past Formula Drift Champion, Chris Forsberg. “The car was set-up perfectly and it was great that the team worked so hard during practice to get it there. I’m disappointed to have let them down but I didn’t have my strongest run in the Great 8 match against Chris and he deserved to move on,” said Daijiro Yoshihara.
Formula Drift Texas also marked the release of a new hat design now available online at daiyoshiharastore.com. This 5 panel snap-back closure sold out at the event and was clearly a Texas drift fan favorite. Relief for Japan fundraising from the event and the pre-event ticket auction totaled $476.00. With just one event remaining in the 2013 season, Daijiro and the Discount Tire/Falken Tire S13 return to the house of drift, Irwindale Speedway in Southern California. Don’t miss what continues to be a sold out event with expectations of record breaking attendance.
